The Value of data

It is only a small file - but it causes major difficulties if the file disappiers. It's a good thing that missing data are easily restored out of the backup.


« Data loss can have several reasons, e.g. defect of the hardware, theft or virus attacks. But also deleting or overwriting of data by mistake can cause the loss of important data. The fitting backup strategy restores lost data. »

Optimal data backup prevents against definite data loss. We consult companies in different backup strategies and use redundant solutions that are adapted to the requirements of our customers.

To reach an optimal backup strategy, the following questions have to be answered:

  • Which data has to be saved?
  • How many data has to be saved in which scope?
  • How many backup copies are necessary?
  • How and especially where are the copies stored?
  • Is an encoding of the data necessary?

Graphic Backup Strategy

 

Through the use of redundant backup strategies, the customer has a higher availability of the data. In the case of data loss, we care for a fast data recovery, so running operations are only interrupted by a minimum.

Depending on the requirements we use different backup strategies, even combinations are possible.

 

 

An internal backup covers all strategies where the hardware is installed at the location of the customer. The backup is stored at the same physical place as the original data which can cause problems (e.g. fire on a location, floods).

The backup intervals are configured individually. The backup starts automatically at defined times (e.g. in the night) and/or synchronised to the data traffic. You can directly access your backup.

Staging is configured depending on the capacity of the hard disk.

Standard Server

Enables simple and fast restore of the data.


This backup solution is cost-efficient as the existing hardware is used. It mainly suits for the data volume of small and middle-sized companies.


No additional costs for hardware appear as the backup is installed on an existing server.

 

Second Server

This solution provides necessary redundancies for your backup as a second hardware is used. It mainly suits for the data volume of small and middle-sized companies.


The second server enables fast restore of the data and access to older data. The additional server structure takes over operation in case of a disaster.


One-time costs for the purchase of a second server appear. An ethernet connection between the server is required.

Storage System (NAS)

This backup strategy suits for data-rich applications with a lot of changes and high access frequency.


Storage systems enable fast restore of data-rich applications and access over a long period of time.


One-time costs for the purchase of a NAS system appear. An ethernet connection between the server is required.

An external backup covers all strategies where the hardware is installed outside of the location of the company. The backup is stored at another physical place as the original data.

USB Hard Disk

This backup strategy is secure and a cost-efficient backup solution. Any hard disk can be used for the backup. The content of the backup is encrypted. Data is stored directly at the customer. It is recommended to store the hard disk on a location independent of the working place of the company.


Suitable for the data volume of small companies. Standard data cable are sufficient as the backup does not cause additional traffic.


Hard disk can be used for daily backups. Staging is not possible, only the last stored data is available.


Direct access to the data enables fast restore.

Autonomous Server Location

 An appropriate server is installed on an external location independend of the companies location. One-time costs for purchasing of additional hardware (pc, server) and running costs for operation at an additional location appear.


Suit for the data volume of SME. The backup automatically starts at defined times (e.g. in the night). The load of the data cable has to be considered.


Access and data transfer take place over VPN connections. The restore time depends on the bandwidth of the data line.


If the capacity of the hard disk is adequate, the server will take over the services in the case of a disaster.

The data is stored in secure Austrian computing centres and independent from a companies location. Secure data transfer and encryption of the data ensure high data security. Access takes place over VPN. Staging is available and enables access to older data.

We run our servers in Austrian computing centres. The backup can either be stored on one of our servers or on your own storage system that is installed in one of our computing centres (storage housing). Alternatively, we offer the provision of dedicated hard disks.

Backups automatically start at defined times (e.g. in the night) and/or synchronised to the data traffic. The load of the data cable has to be considered.

Costs depend on the data volume and incur in terms of monthly fees. If you use your own hardware, you have one-time costs for the purchase of the hardware.

Appropriate hardware (storage or NAS system) of the customer is installed in a secure Austrian computing centre.
